Summary:

Method of the epidermal surface biopsy (ESB) with the adhesive compositions is the alter-native to the classic his-tological examination. Materials and Methods. In this study medical adhesive "Sulfacrylate" was used, small portions of which had been spread on an object glass, and then on different skin areas. To study the structural organization of the samples ESB the technique of optical coherence tomography (ОСТ) was used. Results. We obtained the pictures that visualize the structural organization of the different layers of the epidermis in lichen planus, hyperkeratosis, scabies and other skin diseases. Conclusion. This technique allows non-invasive measurement of high-precision structure of different layers of the epidermis, which can be useful both for research and for the practical dermatology.

Organization: Saratov State Medical University
Summary:

Objective: to select the optimal, clinically and economacally effective immunocorrector for the treatment of immune-EBV — mononucleosis in children. Materials: 400 patients with primary Epstein — Barr virus infection aged 1 to 14 years. Results. The therapy by cycloferon of primary Epstein — Barr virus infection observed a statistically significant reduction in the length of stay of patients in hospital, on average, 3 bed-days. Inclusion of cycloferon, viferon in the treatment of infectious mononucleosis, reduces the severity and duration of symptoms of intoxication, the temperature reaction, hepatotoxicity, splenomegaly, lymphoproliferative syndrome. Against the background of cycloferon lower incidence of post-infection anemia was observed. Conclusion. The inclusion of immunocorrectors into therapeutic interventions in primary Epstein — Barr virus infection has been clinically and economically proved.

Summary:

The purpose of the research was detection of markers of systemic inflammatory response syndrome together with levels of markers of gram-negative endotoxinemia in HIV-patients for evaluation of role of endotoxin in immune system hyperactivation and progression of disease. Material and methods. Evaluation of levels of endotoxin, sCD14, interleu-kin 1(3, TNF-a and C-reactive protein was done in 232 HIV-positive patients. LAL-test, ELISA and biochemical tests were used. Results. The statistically significant increase of levels of all markers of systemic inflammatory response which were investigated was detected in the group of HIV-positive patients, comparing to group of healthy individuals. Direct correlation of sCD14 level with most of markers of systemic inflammatory response was found. Increased level of sCD14 was associated with more prominent clinical and laboratory signs of immunosupression. Conclusion. These results confirm a role of endotoxin which is a marker of microbial translocation and highly active biological substance in pathogenesis of immune system hyperactivation and progression of HIV-infection.

Purpose is to study the clinical, laboratory and instrumental characteristics of the course of rotavirus infection in children up to 3 years in the acute phase and during the convalescence period. Material and methods. A clinical, laboratory and instrumental examination of 320 children up to 3 years with moderate to severe rotavirus infection. Results. The presence of long-term persistence of rotavirus recovering from rotavirus infection. Identified functional disorders of the digestive system in the acute period and the period of convalescence in children up to 3 years with rotavirus infection. Conclusion. For a long period (up to 3 months), almost half of patients may experience intestinal dysfunction, possibly related to the long-term persistence of rotavirus.

Summary:

Objective: to study the causes and clinical manifestations of disease in children referred for hospitalization in children infectious diseases hospital in Saratov with a diagnosis of «acute flaccid paralysis». Material and methods: 157 children with the diagnosis on admission of the guide «acute flaccid paralysis». Conducted clinical examination and laboratory tests included a general analysis of cerebrospinal fluid, urine, virological examination of nasal swabs and faeces, with the definition of a serological ELISA method and RPHA immunoglobulins to influenza, rubella, and enterovirus, immunological study of blood, cerebrospinal fluid PCR, electromyography of the affected limbs. Results. 77 patients (49%) with the disease associated with the violation of the musculoskeletal system were registered. In the other cases revealed polyneuropathy was not of poliovirus etiology. Etiological nature of the disease could be explained by 54% of patients. In 37 (46%) patients the diagnosis was formulated in accordance with the severity of paralysis. One child was diagnosed with a vaccine-associated poliomyelitis. Conclusion. The diagnosis of «acute flaccid paralysis» used as administered requires a detailed interpretation in a hospital.
