Summary:

The review of the literature covers etiology, pathophysiological mechanisms, clinical manifestations and the main methods of treatment of ocular rosacea. Rosacea is one of the common chronic skin diseases with a diverse clinical picture. Ophthalmological manifestations of the disease are associated with affect to the cornea, conjunctiva and eyelids. The etiology and pathogenesis of the disease is not fully understood currently. Pathological processes in ocular rosacea are associated with disorders in vascular, immune and nervous systems, as well as with the influence of a number of microorganisms. In the treatment of ocular rosacea drugs of local and systemic action are used. Systemic therapy includes tetracycline and macrolide antibiotics and angioprotectors. Local therapy is associated with the use of artificial tears, anti-inflammatory drugs and local antibiotics. In severe cases of ocular rosacea surgical management is required.

Comparison and interpretation of the dermatological health-related quality of life and SKINDEX-29 in patients with different subtypes of rosacea

Year: 2015, volume 11 Issue: №3 Pages: 401-405
Heading: Dermatovenerology Article type: Short message
Authors: Davydova A.M., Bakulev A.L
Organization: Saratov State Medical University
Summary:

Aim: comparison and interpretation of dermatological health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and SKINDEX-29 in patients with different subtypes of rosacea. Materials and methods. Questionnaires HRQoL and SKINDEX-29 (which is very slightly described and categorized in Russian literature) were used to question 48 patients with rosacea of 3 subtypes (the 1st, the 2nd and the 3rd). The data resulting from the study were processed statistically and tabulated. Results. Sensitivity and interchangeability SKINDEKS-29 and HRQoL were confirmed for patients with different subtypes of rosacea. A more detailed description and interpretation of SKINDEX-29 will increase the understanding of the scores obtained in patients with any dermatological pathology. The use of two questionnaires, investigating the quality of life, increases the control of psychosocial examination and the most narrowly figures details. Conclusions. Conversion of abstract SKINDEX-29 points and its clear categorization into clinically significant quantities will help to form, manage and to unite, if necessary, groups of patients, depending on the parameters of emotional, physical symptoms and psychological functioning for partnerships in the "doctor— patient" system.

Research of personal features of patients with rosacea

Year: 2014, volume 10 Issue: №3 Pages: 560-564
Heading: Skin Diseases Article type: Short message
Authors: Davydova A.V., Bakulev A.L.
Organization: Saratov State Medical University
Summary:

Aim: to study the personal characteristics of patients with different subtypes of rosacea and the establishment of the relationship with the clinical manifestations of dermatosis. Materials and methods. Through questionnaires of dermato-logical quality of life, SKINDEKS-29, The Zung Self-Rating Anxiety Scale, The Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale, Toronto Alexithymia Scale and the method of «Type of attitude to the disease» interviewed 42 patients with different subtypes of rosacea. The data obtained were processed statistically. Results. Rosacea reduces the quality of life of patients, increases the subjective assessment of anxiety scales Zung and Hamilton with a predominance of performance anxiety in the mind. Diagnosed with intermediate degree of alexithymia and anosognosic, ergopathic, anxious and the sensitive types of attitude towards the disease. Conclusions. Predisposition, as well as the development of anxiety disorders, impaired social adjustment, reduced quality of life of patients with rosacea emphasizes the need to implement their algorithm survey assessment of personal characteristics.

Molecular mechanisms of rosacea pathogenesis

Year: 2013, volume 9 Issue: №3 Pages: 561-565
Heading: Dermatovenerology Article type: Review
Authors: Davydova A.M., Bakulev A.L, Morrison A.M., Leonova M.A.
Organization: Saratov State Medical University
Summary:

The article presents possible molecular mechanisms for rosacea pathogenesis from current domestic and foreign clinical observations and laboratory research: regulation and expression defects of antimicrobial peptides, vascular endothelial growth factor, the effect of serine proteases, oxidative stress, reactive oxygen species and ferritin on the occurrence and course of rosacea. New developments in molecular biology and genetics are advanced for researching the interaction of multiple factors involved in rosacea pathogenesis, as well as providing the bases for potentially new therapies.

Assessment and study of changes psychosomatic state of the vegetative nervous system of patients with rosacea

Year: 2012, volume 8 Issue: №2 Pages: 664-667
Heading: Skin Diseases Article type: Original article
Authors: Utz S.R., Morrison A.V., Davydova A.V.
Organization: Saratov State Medical University
Summary:

Aims. The study aimed an identifying of signs of the vegetative nervous system and detailed study of the psychological characteristics of patients with rosacea. Materials and methods. The study included 60 patients with different clinical forms of rosacea at the age from 26 to 56 years and a control group of 60 relatively healthy persons. The assessment of emotional status is carried out with the survey, Test of accentuations of temperament, Diagnostic Questionnaire Quality of Life Index (DILQ), The Zung Self-Rating Depression Scale, reduced multifactorial questionnaire for the study of personality. Vegetative nervous system was investigated using vegetative Kerdo index, Wayne and Solovyova tables and a special questionnaire for signs of vegetative disorders. Conclusions. Syndrome revealed the presence of vegetative-vascular dysfunction in patients with rosacea with a predominance of parasympathetic tone of the autonomic nervous system. Severity of psychoemotional disorders had no direct relationship to the severity of rosacea. But patients with advanced disease had a tighter self-control on the background of increased excitability and stronger internal emotional stress. Those patients were compared with a group of patients with earlier stage disease, which may provoke functional impairments and in case of long existence-the formation of psychosomatic disorders. This comprehensive assessment of vegetative and emotional status is included in the algorithm for evaluation of patients with rosacea and will successfully complement traditional therapy.

The role of vascular disorders in the genesis and maintenance of infammation in the pathogenesis of rosacea

Year: 2012, volume 8 Issue: №2 Pages: 650-654
Heading: Skin Diseases Article type:
Authors: Slesarenko N.A., Leonova M.A., Zaharova N.B., Slesarenko N.S., Reznikova M.A.
Organization: Saratov State Medical University
Summary:

Aims. The study was aimed to identify relationships of immune disorders and angiogenesis in patients at different stages of rosacea. Materials and methods. We examined 110 patients with rosacea. The diagnosis was based on diagnostic criteria. We summarized the role of predictors in the development of rosacea. We investigated pro- and anti-infammatory cytokines, vascular endothelial growth actor (VEGF), fbroblast growth factor (FGF) for the detection of immune disorders and angiogenesis. Results. The immune response in patients with rosacea was of mixed Th-1 and Th-2 type which can be markers of chronic autoimmune infammation. Simultaneously with the change in cytokine profle we revealed activation of angiogenesis (high levels of VEGF, FGF).
