Summary:

The purpose: to prove diagnostic capabilities of modern radiation techniques in odontogenic maxillary sinusitis. Material and methods: The study involved 546 patients with sinusitis. The following methods have been used: X-ray of the paranasal sinuses, contrast maxillary sinus radiography, contact intraoral radiographs, orthopantomography, computer tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. Results. In 7,9% of cases the presence of odontogenic sinusitis has been established, in 92,1 % rhinogenous sinusitis has been revealed. The work provides information about the effectiveness of various radiation techniques in the diagnosis of odontogenic sinusitis. Conclusion. For suspected odontogenic sinusitis, treatment of choice includes the combined use of X-ray of the paranasal sinuses in the mentoanterior projection and contact intraoral radiographs of «causal teeth». Computer tomography is the most informative additional method to clarify the diagnosis of odontogenic sinusitis.

Orthodontic and orthopedic care of adult patients with different types of temporomandibular joint structure

Year: 2010, volume 6 Issue: №4 Pages: 818-820
Heading: Stomatology Article type: Original article
Authors: Listopadov М.А., Lepilin A.M., Konnov V.V., Gavryushova L.V., Arushanyan A.R.
Organization: Saratov Stomatological Polyclinic № 5, Saratov State Medical University
Summary:

The purpose of the research is to identify types of temporomandibular joint structure by tomogram data and to explain the choice of methods to perform complex treatment of adult patients with dental and facial anomalies and deformations. Temporomandibular joints tomogram images of 106 patients with dental and facial anomalies and deformations served as the research material. The types of temporomandibular joint structure were determined and criteria for treatment choice in adult patients with dental and facial anomalies and deformations were worked out. The data obtained allow improving efficiency of complex (orthodontic and orthopedic) treatment of adult patients with dental and facial anomalies and deformations

Changes of functional status of masticatory muscles in the process of treatment based on the results of electromyographic analysis of patients with distal occlusions

Year: 2010, volume 6 Issue: №3 Pages: 671-674
Heading: Stomatology Article type: Original article
Authors: Lepilin A.V., Konnov V.V., Listopadov М.А., Arushanyan A.R.
Organization: Saratov State Medical University
Summary:

The research work is dedicated to study of bioelectric activity of masticatory muscles of adult patients with distal occlusions. The research is based on the results of electromyographic analysis of bioelectric activity of masticatory muscles of 47 patients with distal occlusions. The results of electromyographic analysis have allowed establishing the criteria of masticatory muscles adaptation to new functional conditions of masticatory system formed in the process of treatment of patients with distal occlusions. The established criteria can be used to define objectively the duration of masticatory muscles adaptation period during the stages of complex treatment of patients with distal occlusions

Clinical Manifestations of pathology of temporomandibular joints and masticatory muscles in patients with teeth occlusion and teeth row disturbances

Year: 2010, volume 6 Issue: №2 Pages: 405-410
Heading: Stomatology Article type: Review
Authors: A.V. Lepilin, V.V. Konnov, Е.А. Bagaryan, A.R. Arushanyan
Organization: Saratov State Medical University
Summary:

The aim of the research is a literature review about the problem of temporomandibular joints and masticatory muscles in patients with teeth occlusion and teeth row disturbances. Teeth occlusion and teeth row disturbances are widespread pathology of maxillofacial area, that can lead to different pathology alterations of masticatory system including musculo-articular dysfunction. Some specialists consider that the key factor of pathogenesis of musculo-articular dysfunction is occlusion disturbances, by the other opinion - discoordination of muscle contraction. Thus occlusive and muscular disorders are leading in pathogenesis and clinic of musculo-articular dysfunction
