Summary:

The article traces the professional path of the scientist and great surgeon Sergei Ivanovich Spasoku kotsky, evaluates his scientific contribution to the development of gastrointestinal and pulmonary surgery, as well as brain surgery during his work in Saratov. He proposed gastric resection which was the operation of choice for peptic ulcer disease. He worked on the problems of blood transfusion, developed a grooved clamp, contributed to the opening of the first Institute of trau-matology and orthopedics in the Soviet Republic.
