Summary:

The article presents biographical information about Professor N. E. Kushev. It describes his scientific and practical contribution to the development of native medicine at the turn of the XIX-XX centuries including the organization of malaria control, training of scientific and pedagogical staff at the medical faculty of the Saratov University and public activities.
