Biomechanical evaluation of fixation degree of fragments by periosteal osteosynthesis

Year: 2010, volume 6 Issue: №3 Pages: 683-687
Heading: Traumatology and Orthopedics Article type: Original article
Authors: Barabash Yu.A., Skripkin S.P., Grazhdanov K.A.
Organization: Saratov Scientific Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics
Summary:

Expansion of indications for surgery and plate osteosynthesis of long bones points to increased number of complications caused by instability of fragments, that can be associated in their turn with constructive features or iatrogenic factors. Insufficient rigidity of fragment fixation is due to incorrect technical treatment and wrong choice of fixator. Biomechanical parameters of periosteal fixation rigidity have been experimentally proved, depending on fixator lever

Summary:

The purpose was to reveal patterns of morphometric characteristics variability of lumbar vertebrae and sacrum for a choice of more adequate selection of standard sizes and introduction orientation of corrigent metalware at surgical treatment of spondylolisthesis. Preparations of lumbar vertebrae and sacrum of 60 skeletons, 110 Kt-grams of men and women of the first and second periods of mature age without visible pathology of a backbone and 300 Kt-grams of patients with spondylolisthesis. The data on age variability and sexual dimorphism of lumbar vertebrae and sacrum were obtained. The analysis of results of surgical treatment of 288 patients with spondylolisthesis during 1995-2008 was carried out. 160 patients were managed with preoperative planning, taking into account morphometric characteristics of vertebrae and sacrum since 2003. It is necessary to install and arrange metalware at reduction taking into account features of back structures and forward basic complex of lumbar vertebrae and sacrum; that allows to receive adequate decompression of neurovascu-lar structures in 85-90% cases, reliable correction and stabilization of damaged lumbosacral segments

Changes of functional status of masticatory muscles in the process of treatment based on the results of electromyographic analysis of patients with distal occlusions

Year: 2010, volume 6 Issue: №3 Pages: 671-674
Heading: Stomatology Article type: Original article
Authors: Lepilin A.V., Konnov V.V., Listopadov М.А., Arushanyan A.R.
Organization: Saratov State Medical University
Summary:

The research work is dedicated to study of bioelectric activity of masticatory muscles of adult patients with distal occlusions. The research is based on the results of electromyographic analysis of bioelectric activity of masticatory muscles of 47 patients with distal occlusions. The results of electromyographic analysis have allowed establishing the criteria of masticatory muscles adaptation to new functional conditions of masticatory system formed in the process of treatment of patients with distal occlusions. The established criteria can be used to define objectively the duration of masticatory muscles adaptation period during the stages of complex treatment of patients with distal occlusions

SEM evaluation of the morphological changes in hard dental tissues prepared by Er: YAG laser and rotary instruments

Year: 2010, volume 6 Issue: №3 Pages: 667-671
Heading: Stomatology Article type: Original article
Authors: Tomov Georgi
Organization: Bulgaria, Plovdiv, Medical University
Summary:

Effective ablation of dental hard tissues by means of the erbium:yttrium-aluminum garnet (Er: YAG) laser has been reported recently, and its application to caries removal and cavity preparation has been expected. However, few studies have investigated the morphological changes in hard dental tissues after Er: YAG laser caries treatment. In the present study the morphological changes in hard dental tissues after Er: YAG laser caries ablation in vitro was compared with that of conventional mechanical treatment. Thirty extracted human teeth with caries were used. Ten tooth was treated with the Er: YAG laser, and the other was treated with a conventional steel and diamond burs. Laser treatment was performed by means of a non-contact irradiation modes with cooling water spray, with a new Er: YAG laser (LiteTouch). Conventional bur treatment was conducted by means of a low-speed micromotor and air turbine with water cooling. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) observations were performed for each treatment. The Er: YAG laser ablated carious dentin effectively with minimal thermal damage to the surrounding intact dentin, and removed infected and softened carious dentin to the same degree as the burtreatment. In addition, a lower degree of vibration was noted with the Er: YAG laser treatment. The SEM examination revealed characteristic micro-irregularities of the lased dentin and enamel surfaces with potential benefits for adhesive restorations. Our results show that the Er: YAG laser is promising as a new technical modality for caries treatment

Comparative study of influence of system and local treatment by Ronkoleykin on indicators of immune status of children with atopic bronchial asthma

Year: 2010, volume 6 Issue: №3 Pages: 663-666
Heading: Pediatrics Article type: Original article
Authors: Sultanova N.G.
Organization: Azerbaijan Medical University, Baku city
Summary:

In the article the results of study of comparative influence of system and local treatment by Ronkoleykin on indicators of immune status at 33 children with medium severe bronchial asthma are listed. As a result of fulfilled research it was established that therapy by Ronkoleykin both in the form of injections, and in the form of an aerosol, introduced on a background of basic inflammatory treatment of atopic bronchial asthma, provided positive dynamics of immune and cytokine status. The received results specify the necessity of Ronkoleykin use for complex therapy of children with atopic bronchial asthma

Psycho-autonomic and urodynamic disorders in children with primary nocturnal enuresis

Year: 2010, volume 6 Issue: №3 Pages: 653-658
Heading: Pediatrics Article type: Original article
Authors: Nesterenko O.V., Koroleva I.V., Goremykin V.I., Elisarova S.U., Khignyak A.M, Protopopov A.A.
Organization: Saratov State Medical University
Summary:

The analysis of psycho-autonomic status, urodynamics of lower urinary tract, the character of family education in children with various courses of primary night enuresis (PNE) was made. 198 children with PNE and 36 healthy children who formed the control group were examined. It was found out that children with PNE were observed to have detrusion-sphincter dissynergy and inadequate family education; the severity of enuresis correlated with the severity of minimal brain dysfunctions. Peculiarities of autonomic regulation in children with primary nocturnal enuresis were caused by stable increase of the parasympathetic nervous system tonus and decrease of the sympathetic nervous system tonus, the severity of the both increasing with the increase of the disease severity
